On New Year's Eve we play against Brighton Hove Albion away at the Amex. Coming off of a 3-1 victory against West Ham arsenal can come into this comfortable and should expect victory against the Seagulls. However, Brighton aren’t a walkover and should be expected to put up a good fight, coming into this game after an impressive 3-1 win over Southampton. But without many of their star players, Brighton should be stretched especially in the midfield where they are without midfield trio, Mac Allister, Caceido and Moder.

H2H Record

Arsenal have only won 2 of their past 5 games against Brighton and they have lost 2 and drawn one. Brighton can’t be expected to be a walk over when we play them, especially considering they beat us 3-1 at home in the EFL Cup. We’ve only scored 6 against them and conceded 7. We seem leaky against the Seagulls and we have to watch out at the back and stay clinical.

Team News
Arsenal

Obviously, Gabriel Jesus is out until late February 2023 with a knee injury sustained during Brazil’s penultimate group game in the World Cup. Tomiyasu is a doubt for the game with a hamstring injury but can be expected to be participating in full training soon. Nelson and Smith-Rowe are out for a few days with Nelson receiving a knock in an Arsenal friendly fixture and Smith-Rowe getting ready to return to training after being out with a long term groin injury.

Brighton

Former Gunner Danny Welbeck is out for the game with a muscle injury while Moder also misses out.Moises Caceido misses out due to suspension and Moder is ineligible due to injury. Alexis Mac Allister is still celebrating his World Cup success for Argentina.

Predicted Lineups

Arsenal are expected to continue their 4-3-3 lineup and Brighton should play their 4-2-3-1 formation.

Arsenal: Ramsdale,White,Saliba,Gabriel,Zinchenko,Partey,Xhaka,Odegaard,Saka,Nketiah, Martinelli

Brighton: Sanchez,Lamptey,Dunk,Veltman,Estupinan,Gross,Gilmour,March,Lallana,Mitoma,Trossard

Match Prediction

Arsenal are coming up against a strong Brighton who will not make it easy for the Gunners. Arsenal are at the top of the league with Brighton sitting 8th in the table trying to climb up. They’re both very high scorers with Arsenal scoring 36 and Brighton scored 28 goals. It will be a match that can be high scoring and I predict another 3-1 win for Arsenal.
